Can You Watch IPTV on Roku? Options That Actually Work
Roku doesn't support standard IPTV players. Here are the options that actually work, including screen mirroring and the low-cost device we recommend.
Roku is one of the most popular streaming platforms in the US, but the Roku Channel Store does not offer the player apps that IPTV services use. We want to be upfront about that before you order.
Option 1: Add a Fire TV Stick or Google TV (recommended)
Plug an inexpensive Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV into a spare HDMI port on the same TV. You’ll get the full experience with the TV guide, catch-up and favorites. See our Fire TV Stick guide.
Option 2: Screen mirroring
- On your Roku, go to Settings → System → Screen mirroring and set it to Prompt or Always allow.
- On an Android phone or Windows PC, start playback in the player app, then use Smart View, Cast or Project → Connect to a wireless display.
- Select your Roku from the list.
Mirroring works, but picture quality depends on your Wi-Fi, and your phone or PC has to stay on.
Roku TVs
If you own a Roku TV (TCL, Hisense, onn. and others), the same limitations apply. Option 1 is still the best route.
